CADlabels are some of the most versatile tools in CADtools. They can be used for many things including technical illustrations, production details, prepress notes, etc. To make CADlabels appear in isometric view, select and project them with the CADisometric palette (see CADisometric section).
Incremental labels
Before using a CADlabel tool, open the CADlabels panel under the Window > CADtools menu. Choose one of the icons to set the line and shape of your label - angle, curve, squiggle or straight line and plain, rectangle, ellipse, or triangle shape. Use the Format menu to choose ABC or 123 Incremental labels to automatically show a letter or number as the label text.
Then open the CADlabels toolgroup from the toolbar. Select the first tool, the Incremental label tool. Click and drag anywhere on the document to create the label. If you have Live dimensions checked in the CADdocument palette, you can select the label and change its appearance again with the CADlabels panel.
Multi-line labels
For multi-line labels, select the multi-line style icon in the CADlabels panel. Click two or more points before dragging to finish the label. You can change the format, choose different label shapes, and adjust the border size as needed.
Geometry labels
If Geometry is selected as the CADlabel
format, you can display the geometric attributes of an underlying path or object. To create a geometry label, select the Label tool and position the cursor directly over the object or path line. Click and drag to position the geometry label. Hold down the shift key while dragging to constrain the tool to multiples of 45 degrees. Hold down the control key while you are dragging to toggle the placement of the label text.
Use the CADlabels panel to set the geometry attributes. X and Y show location relative to the document ruler, width and height refer to the size of the object, length and perimeter shows distance along path or around object, and area is total enclosed area.
Custom labels (linking over placed image)
If Custom text is selected as the CADlabel format, the Label tool will create a text label with your own default value. Set your label appearance and choose Format Custom text. Select Stretch shapes to fit. Use the Selection menu to choose Select text so that the text will automatically be highlighted after you create the label. Click and drag to position the custom text label. Then enter the desired text. Use the CADstyle panel to update links and see the border stretch to fit the new text.
Note: If you manually edit text of custom text labels or any other labels, you must deselect the label to save the text changes.
As with all labels, if you create them over an object, the labels will be linked to the object and relocate with the object when it is moved. To see these changes, choose Update links in the CADstyle panel.
Datum feature
Datum feature labels work like the Incremental labels - they use the alphabetical increment set in the CADlabels palette. Click and drag to create the datum feature, and use the CADlabels palette to adjust the spacing around the letter.
Datum targets are not as flexible as datum features - they do not increment or adjust in size.
Revision bubble
This tool allows you to automatically create encircling revision bubbles by clicking once on the artwork. Bubbles created in this manner will be linked to the object. If the object is moved and the links are updated, the bubble will redraw around the object in its new location. You can also freely create bubbles by click-dragging them. Adjust the appearance of the bubble by holding down the control or alt/option keys while dragging.
Section line
Section lines are used to show where a section view is created through the object. Section views are often required where an object's interior is complex enough to require additional views or detailed drawings.
